Mercy
Dear Time, Mercy Please

Can you slow down a bit for me?

Not too much do I ask of thee,

Just a few moments spent leisurely.

Moments of love with my beloved,

The beauty of the sunset these eyes wish to seize;

These thoughts running through my head,

I want to take control of and make peace;

The desire to sit still and pause,

Look afar at the world only I can see;

Let the raindrops sink in,

Let the fragrance of blossom my heart perceive;

For once let me live to the fullest,

Just stop and let me be me.

Dear Time, Mercy Please

Can you hasten a bit for me?

Not too much do I ask of thee,

Just a few moments to be gone briskly.

Moments to rush fast when I’m waiting for my beloved,

I want to be numb to the ache of the deceased;

When I walk back and forth waiting outside my mother’s chemo room,

Let the moments rush by when I am with the fiend;

These thoughts going through my head,

I want to run away from them and never cease;

For once, let me not live this instant,

Just hasten, I do not intend to feel.
